How much of a wall needs to be covered?

What is behind the slats?
Typically an acoustic felt backing made from recycled PET, and for higher performance, mineral wool with a deliberate air gap behind it. Depth matters — thicker assemblies with an air cavity absorb lower frequencies, which is what tames the boominess in a large hard-surfaced room. The backing is chosen once we know what the room is doing.
Can it be combined with built-in storage or a media wall?
Yes, and it is often the best use of the surface. We regularly combine acoustic paneling with concealed cabinets, screen backing, integrated lighting, and speaker cutouts so the wall handles storage, technology, and acoustics as one piece of millwork rather than three competing ones.
